Privacy Policy
What personal data Halalify Music collects, why, who receives it, and the rights you have over it.
Data We Collect
Account data (email address, display name; your Google account email and name if you sign in with Google), profile preferences (religious tradition and gender, used to personalize analysis), usage data (songs analyzed, features used, timestamps), and device data (browser type, operating system). Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store card numbers. Audio for song recognition is processed in real time and discarded, never stored. We also store an anonymous device identifier in your browser to allocate free-tier usage and prevent abuse, and use your IP address to enforce rate limits and block abusive traffic, not for advertising. The device identifier is a random value created in your browser, not derived from your identity; we keep a salted hash of it server-side, and clearing your site data resets it.
Why We Use It
To provide the service and personalize analysis to your selected Islamic schools, process payments and manage subscriptions, measure usage and improve the service, prevent fraud and abuse, send account-related emails (transactional only; we send no marketing email), and respond when you contact support.
Song ratings are generated automatically from song data; this produces no legal or similarly significant effect on you. Where GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you or under our legitimate interests (fraud prevention, service improvement). Your religious-tradition preference is processed with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw by changing your selected schools in the app or deleting your account.
Who Receives It
We do not sell or share (as the CCPA defines those terms) personal data, and we use sensitive personal information — your religious-tradition preference — only to provide the service. These providers process data on our behalf: Supabase (authentication and database), Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in, Gemini AI for song analysis, and optional YouTube playlist export), Groq and OpenRouter (AI chat; OpenRouter is pinned to providers that do not train on or retain prompts), ACRCloud (audio recognition — your recording is forwarded in real time and we do not store it), iTunes, Deezer, Audd.io and other public song databases (song titles and artist names only, for metadata, artwork and lyrics — never your personal data), and PostHog (product analytics — named product events tied to your account identifier and subscription tier, not your email address and not your display name; session recording and autocapture are switched off). We disclose data when the law requires it.
Retention
Account data is kept until you delete your account (self-serve from your profile menu, or by emailing us). Usage analytics are kept only as long as needed to measure and improve the service. Audio for song recognition is never stored.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal data. Email support@halalifymusic.com and we will respond as applicable law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights, and you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country. Where the law requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses.
